Welcome to Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, a retirement facility for aged and/or abused horses.  Founded in 1888, it is the country’s oldest, non-profit organization, 501(c)(3) dedicated to the care of these majestic animals.  Located on 383 beautiful acres of rolling hills in southeastern Pennsylvania, Ryerss Farm provides a wonderful setting for horses to graze and play, living their golden years in comfort and dignity.

The Farm is open to visitors daily between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  If youd like, you may bring treats to feed the horses.  But, please limit your food donations to apples (quartered) and carrots only.  A group tour may be scheduled in advance by calling the farm office at (866) 469-0507.  The cost is free, but donations are appreciated.  For directions, click on the Contact Us button on the left.

Grant Provides New Run-in Shed

Ryerss Farm is pleased to announce the completed installation of a new 32’ x 12’ run-in shed made possible by a grant from the Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF).  Installed in one of the farm’s winter pastures, the run-in shed is a great asset for the horses.

Although horses require and enjoy fresh air and room to roam, the occasional protection from wind, snow, rain or sun is a welcome experience for a horse out to pasture.  Often a gathering place for the horses, Ryerss’ new run-in shed is conveniently located near the hay hut in the main barn’s northern pasture.  It is the seventh building of its kind located on the farm.

Founded by the celebrated singer, actress Doris Day in 1978, DDAF is a nationally known non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.  DDAF very caringly provides grants to unique and innovative non-profit organizations in order to help animals and the people who love animals.  For more information about DDAF, visit their web site at www.ddaf.org.

 Ryerss Fencing Project

With nearly 160 acres of pastureland, Ryerss Farm has a lot of fencing, sectioning off fields where horses can graze.  We would like to replace an original 500 feet of post and wire fencing with safer, post board and wire fencing.  This project will cost an estimated $2,500 for materials.

If you would like to help, you can make a donation of $50 to purchase the materials for a 10 ft. section.  Please make sure you mark your check “fencing” so we can direct your donation to this project.
